TAT’s recommendations: Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health’s travel advisory for COVID-19

Thailand opens for tourism and travel with heightened COVID-19 control measures: tourists to monitor official advice from the Ministry of Public Health.

Bangkok, 03 March, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to provide recommendations regarding the Ministry of Public Health’s travel advisory for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Currently, the Ministry of Public Health has issued a “Level 3: Avoid Unnecessary Travel to Areas with Ongoing Local Transmission.” The countries and administrative regions at-risk for COVID-19 as determined by the Ministry can be accessed via this link https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/eng/news.php.

However, in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s announcement on 30 January, 2020, Thailand does not recommend any travel or trade restrictions against China or other affected areas.

TAT’s recommendations for tourists

Tourists are advised to “travel safely” by practising frequent hand hygiene measures (washing with soap or using alcohol-based gel).

Kindly comply with the primary fever screening at attractions. Travellers showing any signs of the COVID-19 symptoms are subject to further medical evaluation and treatment.

Kindly wear a hygienic mask during travel, avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms, and avoid visiting crowded places.

If feeling sick, do seek medical care as soon as possible and inform the healthcare worker about the details of your travel history.

Tourists can keep up to date with the COVID-19 situation in Thailand at the TAT Newsroom (www.tatnews.org) and the Department of Disease Control (https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/eng/news.php).
